While this book was published in 1920 the pieces have a very light, modern and breezy feel. Unlike much of the humor from that period that is wordy, tedious and rather heavy-handed, these articles have a restrained, delicate and cheerful touch. They are well crafted and exceptionally good-humored. They are neither arch nor coy and while they display a rigorous intelligence at work they are neither showy nor patronizing.
If you like good authors wandering about writing about interesting things they have observed and thought about this could be a nice treat.

I love Christopher Morley's essays. They are like candy for me. Pipefuls contains some essays that are dated, with references to people whose names are not familiar. But there are several essays in his somewhat hedonistic, enjoying-life style. Fun to dip into when I have a moment to sit down with a cup of coffee.
